Platinum Flowerhorn?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
you give them what ever name you want if you bred thm,but there are only two big catagories of fh,zz and kamfa, and there is some well know strains under both of these catagories that has a set strain trait!

for exp:there are a few well known strains under the zz catagory,
the jingkang strain(basicly it includes most faded zz's ex.platnium, flame, gff)
the bluedragon strains
the reddragon strains
the gm/kamalau strain
the hua jiao strain
and as for kamfas, the strains aren't as stable as the zz catagory,so i think this would be what you are looking for,as the old sayings states,"there is no two kamfa that look the same!"

i hope this will help!

blahblahblah...

i want to see a pic sounds like it looks pretty crazy

Okay, I am completely new to Flowerhorns (But a long term Cichlid researcher/keeper) and I just got my first (and apparently not last!) :) FH a few days ago.

It is not a "pure" strain, but rather a mix of two strains. How does anybody keep up with all the different names for these fish, especially on Aquabid? I got mine locally. I don't like the "usual" looking ones - They are honestly a little too "seen one, seen them all" to me. (You know, the gray/blue/red ones)

This one is 2 1/2 inches, and is platinum white/pink, with a small melanin blotch (Not intense at all) on his forehead. (Just a gray bar from eye to eye across the snout)

First of all, this guy said he had already "peeled" - What does this mean?

Moreover his parentage was said to be dad: 1/2 Kamfa, 1/2 Jing Kang (NO ZZ) (What does ZZ or Kamfa mean anyway?)

Mom was a Red Shock.

Could you guys answer my questions, and give me some insight as to what you think of my little guy based upon my description of him?
Thanks

Platinum white/pink?
I knew you threw in the word platinum in the color description only because the fish is called a platinum.. Where is the platinum at all in them?? These fish are what they call JKs or golden base. More useless names will just add complications and ridicule the hobby.. And the picture Paintsn showed you of his 1st place deserving FH at the last competition is a Golden base ZZ and nothing else.

How everyone keep up with names? They dont really need to. The names dont make the fish. The fish makes the name. What's a platinum if your fish is peach and not platinum at all? What's a blue dragon if your fish don't got blues but red? Dont let ppl twist your mind bro. The hybrid is as what you see it. I don't like ppl to be fooled by this hobby. It's not as near complicated as they make it seem. The names is what get ppl all confused and stuff. And yet they still wanna add more names.

Peeled means he peeled off the old color and into the golden color. He might have been gray before.
