Gorgeous platinum gar! However, it's head seems to be shaped quite oddly though; it isn't a defect(hopefully), right? I heard that such oddly-colored fishes tend to be more prone to such defects =(

Pretty neat, would like to see tail shots to see if the black is present as in most platinum gars.

ya almost all platinum gar has some black dots on its tail and the finnage. but it would be automatically fade away when they grow :D

Nice plat Gar! :D

I have not understood the "appeal" of Leucistic ("platinum") gars.

I saw a "Platinum" Gator Gar (~4") also available (possibly for same rate or cheaper) when I got the pair of Gators last weekend.

That "platinum" gator also seemed to have some defect with his eye and body shape.

Some people like the morphs, some people don't. Many will not have any defects at all, just the different skin pigmentation. Perhaps poor breeding practices are leading to the malignant gar that you are seeing.
