Platinum Jack Dempsey attempt

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmm - right - if they were bbgg then they’d be platinums.

So, they carry genes for blue and gold but are normal in color. If I pair a brother and sister then I should get golds, platinums, EBs and BGs.

Thus, what do you all think is the genetics for the ‘BGs that carry both the gold and blue genes’?

YankeeJack - can you tell about the plant I see in your photos? I am speculating that they are not in there just for decoration. ???

Java moss — had it in my tanks since my betta breeding days. Don’t have the heart to completely get rid of it . It ain’t pretty, but I figure it must be doing a little good.

In my Platinum attempt spawns:
Spawn 1: 7 Plats, 31 EBs and 30 Golds
Spawn 2: 21 Plats, 71 EBs and 51 Golds
Spawn 3: 16 Plats, 92 EB and 68 Golds
Spawn 4: 13 Plats, 54 EB and 49 Golds

Was interesting that the EBs outnumbered the Golds. Would you guys have expected that?

Remind me what the parents are to the spawns your are referring to. I want to draw up the punnet square.

I would expect the EBs to outnumber the Platinums because the Platinums need to have 2 pairs of repressive genes where the EBs only need one pair.

I was looking at your post again. I misread your question. I see you were wondering about the gold versus blue. In spawns one and four they were actually very close to the same. Were all the spawns from the same parents?
