i won't vote until that ornate has been placed in a dark substrate tank for some time. :D

100% Platinum ornate. I explain this already on ebink other thread however the delhezi on the other thread, I'm still have some doubt.

This kind of lapt ornates are first generation plat ornate.

Just like the first generation plat endli it will have a creamy base color. The pure whites comes along when this first generation plat parents continues to breed. Thus the high quality pure whites starts to show up on the batch.

It is not technically a platinum (platinum = solid white), but why does it matter? It's obvious that it has some kind of pigment mutation, so why does it matter if it is that specific mutation or not?

Edit: ^^I stand corrected. But my question still applies.

This fish leucism, yes. However he is not a full leucism, but partly leucism. Platinum is a term sellers apply to fishes, as platinum usually mean pure white. I think low grade platinum is more suitable, but no way true platinum.

Take a look at this sell thread. Platinum in this case implies the endlicheri was fully white. No pics, but it says platinum endlicheri. So does that mean the endlicheri is fully white or party white with patterns? I think a platinum fish should mean fully white, if not then low grade should be included. Otherwise every fish with a patch of leucism scale would be considered platinum. Makes things way too confusing.

Yeah I know that, it's just that it sounded to me like this was another one of those "I don't like this fish unless it is called this" threads.

Don't get me wrong, that is one great fish ebink has. It just bugs me we are calling this platinum. I also get really annoyed when people say blue arowana and not black arowana. Just some of my pet peeves.

Ok guys we should stop. That why it's best to stick with scientific terms and not the common names or farm given names.

ebink ornate is one of a kind and rare. Would be nice if it end up in my tank. Lol!

Whats the scientific term for platinum? Should there be grades for platinum?

I don't think it should matter what his proper name is. Aslong as the op likes it is all that matters. Whether or not hes low quality I think hes awesome. I'd love to own that little guy, hes very unique :]

That would be "leusistic" but his still carry some malanin which shows the patterns. The word "platinum" was first given by asian fish farms when they have a leusistic fish in the batch and thus become common names for leusistic fish. It a trade name for leusistic fish.
