Really? $22 for 2 bags? I bought mine at Lowes and it was like $4 for a 50 lb bag. Different brands, different locations....guess it causes quite the price difference. lol
Yeah I purchased 2 fifty pound bags for a total of $10 at Home Depot. I guess you are right about varying prices at different locations.

i just set up two tanks,a 55 gallon and a 75 gallon,i first set up the 55 with quickcrete play sand from home depot, rinsed it well and put it in(cleared up in about two hours havent had a problem since) and it looks great.

used pool sand in the 75 gallon(as recommended on this site)got it home, and opened the bag and it looks exactly the same(bought it at leslies pool supply)rinsed the same and every thing was even the same color, put it in the 75 and it cleared up in about 2 hours. i personally think its all similar some batches of both types may vary from batch to batch. I even held hand fulls of it side by side and couldnt tell the difference, except the play sand was a little lighter in color. both look great though so i am not dissapointed. Bottom line is you have to try it for your self, sand varies to much just to go on the words of others. learned my lesson could have saved a few bucks and got more of the play sand(play sand home depot=3.49 for 50lbs,pool filter sand from leslies 8.99 for 50 lbs)

I used play sand just put it in a bucket fill it up with water and keep emptying the bucket until it ran pretty clear filled the tank up and it was murky did a 100 percent water change the next day and it was crystal clear it also doesn't could up when disturbed. It was 6 something a bag a lowes
