hey man im telling you out of my own bad experence that play sand suck for a couple of reasons
1 you can clean that crap, what color did you get? white right? yeah it will turn brown and nasty
2 it floats into your filters and likes to lodge in between your mag driven filter and either burns the filter out ar it make the worst sound youve ever heard, in a year i went through 4 ac 110's
3 its make out of recyled glass
in short ITS GARBAGE!

you cant clean it

its made out of rec glass
i cant type today

If you have a pump, you can pump it into some 25-50 micron felt or even a couple folded cotton towels.

It will clear up in a couple hours or more depending on how much flow the pump has. Then you just wash the felt or towels in the washing machine.

I cleared up aragonite in 6 hours. Crushed coral in 8 hours. PFS in 4 hours. No pre rinsing. It probably all could have been done in 4 if I had 10x turnover in the pumps that I was running in the other tanks.

Another thing you can do. Turn off the filter system for a day, then get a siphon and hold it about 2-3 inches above the substrate. It will suck the silt of the top. I did this with a couple tanks but found that running a pump into a bucket stuffed with cotton towels and a giant hole drilled in the bottom was faster.
