So originally setup tank for 0 water changes, have pothos growing in sump with a few grow lights, then using pond max, lava rocks, pumice and ceramic media for biological filter. Also have a 2x 100 micron filter socks, and a canister filter running on the sump. Was planning to add purigen to canister but right now just have 500ml sitting in one of the 2x socks.
In addition have plants growing out of overflow. I have been overfeeding for the last 6 months, and only have to top off 1-2 gallons a day from evap and plan growth, i have the tank mostly covered close to 90% so assume most water loss is plant growth. I have had no nitrate, nitrite or ammonia since startup. Have done 1 10% water change since august. Have had great growth on all fish. Chocolate breed every 3 weeks. Arowana has double in last 4 months.
I dose 30Ml of florish every 2-4 days.
Currently in the process of plumbing the sump and adding 5 float switches, 2x in series for lo, 2x in series for high. 5th is hi hi.
Putting in a 3 stage carbon filter for chloramine removal, then a solioid to fill tank. Drilling an overflow on the sump to go into sewer for water changes and in case of a fault in the floats.
Most the plumbing is done, and almost all the code is done on the PLC. Moving lights off mechanical timers to PLC control.
I'll be adding the additional control this week. The pothos has started to grow out of the sump, that is partially covered. Starting to grow up the back of the tank.
Tank is positioned directly in front of a very large window, around 5'x6'.
Tank is 360 Gallon Acrylic. 8'x3'x2'. External overflows. Over flows have plants and tetras and a small pleco forget species in each.
