LOL! I agree but in the future if he wants to use it as a a reef tank then copper will stay in the seams and cause problems.

Good point Chris lowering the salinity will work well also he can raise the temp a little too. "No corals" LOL
 
There is Marine ick.
Remember that Copper will destroy all organisms in the tank. Your live rock ( I am assuming you have live rock ) will loose most of it's live contents. Copper is a very effective medicine, but your tank will, afterwards ( after good week of carbon to remove the copper ) have to be restarted...
 
It won't kill off all organisms (i.e. fish) but it will kill off all of the inverts in the tank. And I can guarantee there is no such thing as marine ich. ich is a type of freshwater parasite. People sometimes call crypt marine ich but they are completely different organisms.
 
there is marine ick. my fisrt SW tank failed because of it.
 
Cypt is usually refered to as "marine ich" because it looks visually similar to the freshwater counterpart of that name. Treatments can be similar, however, they are different.
