Got this catfish from lfs labeled as talking catfish aka amblydoras nauticus. But to me this fish looks very granulated catfish like. Any help confirming Id greatly appreciated.

It does look well indeed to be a pterodoras granulosus. I think myself it is one, too. They are a nice catfish.

Haha, that's ironic. Thanks, bud. Yet small Doradidae have been largely outside of the scope of my attention.

To my quick glance, the ID looks correct - https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=1059 - these are quite common.

It may look close to baby granulosus in body and fin shape https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=524 but the coloration in the bag cannot be used. The fish needs to be calm and in a tank.
