I recently posted this in the flowerhorn section needless to say this did not go over very well.

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=54060

When i first started in this hobby I had no problem with people keeping hybrids I personaly did not like them, but it didn't affect me so there was no problem. Now I go to an lfs and the only fish I feel safe buying are wild caught. I honestly feel that what I wrote was very valid so I ask you again please humanly destroy all hybrid fish or fish that you might be a hybrid.

You know if possible you're best off buying wild caught anyways. So many advantages, not to mention you know the fry aren't seriously inbred like F1,367,000

But you'll never stop it. Way too many people making money on it. You might as well say it's not your cup of tea and move on.

Yeha let the flaming begin... so do you also suggest the we kill all purebreeds of dogs since theorectically they are all man made hybrids??? Dude thats your oppinion and your entitled to it but it could appen in the wild and I am sure crossbreeding ahs happened in the wild CONs will try and ferilize any eggs they can I had a con fertilize part of a batch of JD eggs and the fish are sweet You want one I will give it to ya for free just so you can see hybrids are not all that bad oh yeah I added some pcis of some really cool fish

For the sake of all humanity and the future of fish keeping I would really apreciate it if all those involved in the keeping of flowerhorns would refrain from spawning any of these monstrousities. If an accidental spawning does happen to occur please make sure that all fry never leave the confines of your own home and or aquarium.

Thank You,
Andy

Sorry I read your both posts twice and still don't quite understand your veiw.

What is the safety factor your looking for?
How does this affect the future of fish keeping?
Did you have an experience where you ended up with a hybrid?
Do you think this is a contagous disease?

I think you misunderstood me i have no problem with color morths within a particular species, or breeding to bring out certain traits that are desirable. So therefore I have no problem with dogs. Most if not all breeds of dogs originated from one species, which means they are all the same species.

I have endeed up with fish that turned out to be hybrids. When they were young it was impossible to tell and they were sold to me as pure fish as they grew i realized they were hybrids and they had to be destroyed. I wasted a whole year growing them out before becoming entirely convinced that the fish were not of a single species.

Linking to a thread I closed doesn't go over well either.

How about an example? Maybe this would strengthen your point of veiw.
