I think you have a point, I would hate to see my favorite fish become contaminated with all sorts of hybridized genes but if people are responsible about their breeding I don't see it as a huge problem.

In my area I do not have a problem with finding natural strains of fish and I am confident that I am getting the real deal.

I agree whole heartedly with you, but thats the point isn't it when has human kind ever been responsible about their actions and the consequences they cause. Like i said before what you do and keep in your own home is none of my buisness but when their actions affect me and my hobby it becomes my concern.

just wondering.... what are your opinion of...
natural crosses (maybe human induced but could and does happen in wild)
and also crosses of same species from different locales?

You have a valid point but you shouldn't just go onto a "hybrid" forum and imply that the actions of some of these members (breeders) are ruining the hobby. That is just going to cause them to close their minds to any of your arguments. And for god sakes don't call their fish "monstrosities".

Diferent morphs of the same species being crossed, although not desirable is fine. I believe this falls into the same category as breeding for specific traits.

this is all your opion but dont try to demand that all people destroy there fish..... if you dont like them dont buy them it is that simple... they are arround because people like them and want them so they are not going to go away because you want them too.... just grow up and accept that the hobby has hybrids and always will have hybrids....

See i personally see this as a flaw in your argument. I realise you are a keeper of cichlids but there are all kinds of fish it reflects upon. Could talk about the same species of pleco, but from a different river, having different "traits", example big spot and small spot baryancistrus sp. gold nugget. How is it not just as important to keep these traits alive and seperate (as they are naturally) as keeping Hypostomus punctatus and H. plecostomus.

so let me get this straight your basicly starting all this nonsense over you getting the wrong fish in your past? kind of stupid. if your so worried about buying a hybrid from your lfs why not just order them from omewhere that you know you will get the right fish

obviously that is the ideal, it sounds great in theory but in reality it is impossible people will breed for specific traits and colors no matter what the animal is the best I can do is ask that they refrain from destroying the purity of life on this planet.

All animals have colors actions instincts etc. that allow them to survive and reproduce in their native habitats is it so ridiculous that i am asking this board to renounce their sins agianst the world and exterminate the evil that we have created.
