Please help an Aro newbie verify XB.

Bring it back no matter what. The seller might not be aware himself and will now start importing greens thinking they are non-certed x's. Eventually it will all fall down on him. Better for him and you if you go explain the situation and get a refund.

Madding >> I think you are right. Follwed your advice and went to the store today, the owner said the fish is a Red and Blue Based Hybrid Cross Back???? I think he is even more confused then i am. Sigh... all i can do now is hope that it colors up.

WTH thats dumb.. just do research if your gonna spend that amount of money on a fish make sure you know what it looks like.. it doesnt take a rocket scientist to know the difference between a green and a Xback.. im not knocking you OP just saying its pretty easy to tell what kind of asian you got.. but then again not much people have experience with asians.. its stupid to think that a cert will identify the type of aro it is because that can might as well be a fake certificate or one from another fish, only unless they have a scanner and scan the microchip in front of you..just do research RTG, xbacks have red tails and the dorsal fin is black and so is the top portion of the caudal fin..[/
nobody in this thread ever said cert will identify what aro it was :screwy: as many stated here getting an asian aro without cert is illegal

Hi guys,
Just some info. Actually it seems that only fish for export is required to have a cert. I am in Malaysia BTW. Doesn't take away the fact that i paid XB price for a Green. :D

green. I think all CITES farms are suppose to have certs and microchips with all their aros. being that your in Malay I think you got a backyard breeder special. this means a person just brought a bunch of aros and threw them all into a pond and somehow all of the babies are either xbacks or super reds:D

.

if it was $500 then i would have thought that was way to cheap for a xback and that alone would have told me something is not right

$500 Canadian can get an RTG right now. Arows prices dropped here recently and with some bargaining they will sell for 500 from roughly 800$.
