PLEASE HELP Basses anus hole is HUGE

Looks like you need more fiber in his diet. LOL

Probably passing a pebble like you thought. Someone once told me that aquarium salt helps with digestion. Good luck!
 
Going to try the Epsom salt tomorrow, almost forgot about that...was feeding them a mix of massivore and silversides over the past week...maybe he is having difficulty passing the head of a silverside? Looking at him today, the lump has gone away...but its as though it turned to flesh- whiteish in color, and fell off...the hole is still large ...has anyone experienced this before with their fish? He seems to be in good health...I'm trying not to feed him as much in hopes he can pass whatever it is if this is the case...any thoughts?

If all else fails you might just have to press or squeeze around that area in hoping to get whatever it is comes out.

I always cut their heads off ... i never fed mine with them on still
 
if the hole is still huge, which it is (and red probably because its inflamed) should I still attempt to take him out and squeeze?
itskrud-i'm thinking that's what I will do in the future!

If it were mine I would leave him in there and let him pass it on his own timeline. The ladies are awesome and spawning like crazy. The little male likes to eat the eggs which is a problem. Unfortunately I haven't been able to isolate the pair. I did see one wriggler once so I know my big guy still has it. He is eating tilapia now thanks to you. Good luck with your azul.
