please help, catching fish

i was wondering whats the easiest way to catch wild fish out of lakes and streams. any suggestion please help

but seriously, everything depends on the type of fish you want. Want a bunch of small guppies or minnows? Large gamefish, casual fishing? Fish species? Which season...

cast nets are easy but sometimes hurt the fish.
seems bass and pbass always get hurt by them.

Nets hurt the fish but putting a hook through their mouth is fine? How does that equate?

because hooks only pierce the lip, which is a thin, easily fixed membrane. Nets can cause all sorts of problems. Torn fins, eye injury, pH burn, scales torn off, entanglement...etc etc etc
