also i forgot to say umbrella net i use this every week for minnows.
im going now to use it

but every net has there goods and bads.
later i can say them if wanted.lol

because hooks only pierce the lip, which is a thin, easily fixed membrane. Nets can cause all sorts of problems. Torn fins, eye injury, pH burn, scales torn off, entanglement...etc etc etc

I bet the fish would beg to differ.

ive caught thousands of fish
i have fish right now i caught on rod and reel.
his lip healed in about a week.
then
ive caught fish in a castnet that died trying to get them out of the net right there on the spot.
now what fish should i ask is happier???

I'd go with umbrella net or seine net if you can find a netting partner.

I've caught little 2-5" bluegill sunfish on a worm most could be brought out w/o even hitting the hook they just wouldn't let go the worm earned them the name idiot fish

caught a 17" smallmouth on a senko over the weekend ..... didnt tank him though .. the water temp in the river was like 40 !
