Whats up everybody! This is my first post on this site and I am new to keeping Piranha also. I just got this fish from my friend and I wanted to know for sure what kind of fish it is. I am not sure because there are so many types of piranha and also its close cousin, the Pacu. I am pretty sure it is not a Pacu because of the jaw and teeth but I could be wrong. My friend told me it was a black diamond piranha but it looks like a baby red belly from the pictures I have seen. He is really shy and spends all his time in the scuba helmet. I know he needs more hiding places but I am still in the process of soaking more wood. I have been feeding him shrimp mostly and blood worms like once a week. He is probably about a year old and is probably only like 4 inches. Thats another reason why I dont think it is a pacu. Anyways, enough talking.

Sorry about the pics. He is hard to photograph and on top of that my camera is ****ty. Let me know what you think and if you have any info on the exact type of fish this is. Thanks in advance.

by the way, once a week is not enough. this lil guy is not more than 8 months and should be fed at least twice a day, the best would be twice a day. he has nice colors for his age, try to vary his food. what you give him is good, but if you go with fish fillet (he is big enough for that) it'll be less expensive and will vary a lil his feeding habits.

i personally like to throw a goldfish in there sometimes, just to make them hunt and preserve their instinc.

aight good luck

Yeah. I looked at the sticky above and figured it was a RBP. But when I got it my friend said it was a black diamond. After doing research, I found no pictures of black diamonds that looked like my fish. I just thank god its not a Red Bellied Pacu. I dont have the tanks space for that nor do I want to raise a pacu! Whew! "wipes his forehead." Thanks guys!
