  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Thanks, Sensei :) I was not doubting your knowledge but trying to understand the depth of its support. I am satisfied :) and hope we will keep learning together. Seriously though, I've been relying on your expertise in these matters, esp. now that Necrocanis is, I infer, having to deal with other life's challenges first. I hope and pray dearly he'd be back.

Your observation alone of the fasci fast growth and the slow growth of the tig and retic is a good pointer (to me) that you are on the right path. Fasci was chosen to be farmed and used for hybridization in priority over other TSNs because if its this reason - fast initial growth is 1000x more important to the farmer than the final adult size. It appears most/all (?) farmed catfish, e.g., TSN, channels, walking cats, IDS, etc., are harvested as soon as they reach ~1.5', not at 3'-5'.

I enjoy our debates TBTB...its interesting and informative when things match up like that. Ill keep trying to supply observation evidence and you can supply the scientific facts to back each other up lol...maybe the both of us together can fill Necro's shoes in his absence. Im sure he'll be back someday. Nice to have some affirmation from you aswell. All makes more sense to me now with P. Fasciatum being farm raised for harvest. Id like to get my hands on a few more wild caught specimen, couple good species in argentina :)...corruscans...cough...cough...lol...the real mcoy

***Hey! Don't get too cocky! :) I don't wanna be a fish-keeper on paper, a theoretician. That's not much fun but hard, mind-numbing work.

***Nah. No one can fill his shoes. Along with the rest of his clothing items, they are already chuck-full of sharp fish bones and glue :)

***God willing, we'll open for business soon, w/i 6-8 months. Then, I'll give more attention to seeking out rare species.

Is necrocanis gone permanently?
I think i joined the forum after he left, but you guys talk highly of him.

Yes, I miss my teacher Clifford too. He never left. I don't think permanently. When I asked the mod team, they said he has matters other than MFK to take care of. Sometimes he resurfaces for long or for short.

Someone nicknamed him "Catfish god" and it stuck. He IS a catfish nut, geek, self-made home-grown scientist, aficionado, artist, librarian, collector, and fanatic.

He collaborates (on a serious level) with a well known and highly reputable ichthyologist Dr. John Lundberg.

Him and I don't agree on everything but it does not matter.
