Please help! "Death curl"

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It looks like he hasn't eaten in quite some time. His tail is super skinny. It should have a nice fat/thick base near his body rather than look like a rat tail. Any guarantee from the LFS? What were they "feeding" him? I, personally, have delayed curl but never prevented it.
The LFS actually didnt give me a guarantee, they said "they are super sensitive and if it dies its probably my fault". They said they where feeding him bloodworms and tilapia
Since it's from a lfs I'd take it right back.
I'll contact them and see if they can at least get me some store credit

Ok, thanks

Blackworms are your best bet but your water needs to be perfect. He probably wasn't eating at the lfs. They think that just because the ray hovers over the food, it is eating. The tank was probably super dirty from the food NOT being eaten. Also, if he wasn't acclimated properly, the change from nasty water to clean water could have been the straw that broke the camel's back. Of course the trip home could have done it as well. Maybe do some homework then school the lfs on how unhealthy the ray was prior to purchase and see if you can get some compensation. DO NOT buy the retic, even if it looks healthy and is offered at a discount. Good luck! And sorry to hear bout your bad luck. I have been there too but it wasn't quite as much money down the drain for me. From this point on, always do your homework.

Thanks man
I'll be picking up some blackworms tomorrow for him
It looks like the "death curl" has actually started to die down a bit, I just hope he accepts food
I'm pretty pissed that that they'd just lie to me, they said this one was eating very well and from a little reaserch I did and what you guys have told me, it looks like he hasnt eaten in a while
Also, the retic wasnt at the store, I already have him and he's been with me for about a year and a half. Knowing how sensitive they are, especially at a small size I would never buy one from the lfs I got the henlei hybrid from.

The LFS that got me sells themselves as devoted christians lol. They named their store The Ark and play christian tunes inside while lying to and screwing everybody that they can. Trust no one! Lol. Fo real tho. Always do your own research

Live blackworms, try to use something to gently slide them under the front of the disc. Or if some fall into a spiracle they can get a taste for them.

Don't count him out yet... if only his back end was curling it is not to bad and I have seen wild rays way skinnier recover. Just clean water no lights, food and stress free. Good luck

Those are good ideas, I have yet to see a stingray not eat blackworms when they are available
