please help... first time stingray owner

i would say it is definitely skinny. the bad thing is i traded my tank that night. i brought it to his house and then i got to see the stingray for the first time there and i didnt know very much, but figured i could get it eating, so i took it. now i am finding that this will be a bit more challenging than originally thought. i am going to try and stick with it though. will the ghost shrimp be a good bet if i cant find the black worms? i am supposed to be getting some live red worms for him too, hopefully it will start eating something.
 
A ray that small is going to need TINY ghost shrimp. I honestly think your only hope is live black worms.

Rays arent the easiest fish to keep and retics are one of the most difficult of all to keep!

i have lots of experience with retics, i own 4 and all of them came to me very skinny and were tough to get to eat off the start. my best luck getting them to eat was live earthworms cut into very tiny peices litterally no longer than |_____| max. i see that you live in ohio so find a bait shop close to you and get yourself a dozen or 2 worms and try those.
 
black worms and lots of them as being said.... ghost shrimp have crap for nutrition.... research is key to these guys prior to getting them... post some good pics of the ray let us have a look at it...
 
If you cant find blackworms ask the LFS if they have blackworms or trout worms on their list (same thing). See if you can get some special ordered. Most places can get them, but a lot of places don't keep them in stock.
 
Has anyone mentioned adding a little salt?
 
you might want to check aquarium adventure for live black worms they occasionally have them. i also agree about trout worms or (red wigglers) if you can't find any black worms i might be able to help i just picked up a pound. i would be willing to help. good luck pm me if i can help.
 
unfortunately, the ray did not make it to day 2. i woke up this morning and he was upside down, im gonna take a wild stab and say thats probably not good. i will definitely be going back to the store where he shops to ask why they let him have this stuff, i have gotten so many fish from this guy because of the same reason, the fish store sells him fish that he really cant take care of. oh well, one can only hope that someday people like that will learn, but i doubt it.
