Please HELP , hole in my fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You need to replenish the salt when you do water changes. Also by doing water changes to remove ammo you will extend the cycle time by alot so you may doing water changes daily for a while.

another thing to next time you are at the fish store you should pick up a test kit even if its just ammonia, Nitrate and Nitrite it would help you out a lot.

So your saying I should do daily water changes to help with the amonia problem.. probably what like 10% wc a day for a week or two right. I just want to make sure cuz I was always under the impression that daily water changes were bad, shock the fish.

well as long as the temperature is the same it shouldnt really shock the fish. The only reason that you will be doing water changes daily right now is to keep you amonia in check until your filter begins to develope some benifical bacteria. basically right now your tank isnt cycled so there is 3 stages your tank will go through. It will start with a steep increase in ammonia followed by an increase in nitrites then finally you will start to se some nitrates show up.
http://www.oscarfishlover.com/index.php/Cycled-tank/How-to-Cycle-an-Aquarium.html there is a good guide to help you out a bit. The test kits will tell you are within the cycle.

great info , thanks all , happy easter
Happy Easter to you too mate, I suggest taking the heat up to 86. Won't do anything bad to the fish, it will just help defeat the ich faster. I suggest doing 25% daily water changes, salting every time, and buy a test kit.

yoo, this looks like an intense ass case of ammonia burns!
you need some water changes.

are you using prime?

Naaa im not using prime with my water changes, I never did use it in all the years ive had tanks but it could just be catching up with me. The marks on my tinfoils look more to me like a bad fungus I got the in a hospital tank treating them with pimafix seems to be working . I used water from there original tank tho so the paramater levels are still the same

fish get used to water changes after a while as long as the temp stays around the same theres no big strees. my fish eat while i do water changes. they dont care lol and happy easter
