Please help ID cichlid I found at my lfs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
whatever it is, Imo its futile to think about monetizing it, its just what its worth to you. you say its at an lfs if im not mistaken... all that matters there is whether you think its worth the money you have to have the fish.
I'd do it though, it would be interesting, whatever it is, its sure to become more recognizably that with a lil tlc.;

I still think its a true parrot but granted, i havent seen many of those firsthand.
Def. not a hybrid though imo/

Not a hybrid. It is with out any doubt, what so ever, an Australoheros species. Probably A. facetus.

Yes, so far I am pretty confident it is an Australoheros and very possibly A. Facetus. When I do an image search for the said species I c a very close resemblance when in a dark environment; it is subtitled as a "chameleon Cichlid". Furthermore, in some of the pictures u can c the similar finnage growth too.

Again, thanx to everyone for all the input.

Btw, my question regarding the potential value (selling price) of the fish was assuming that it is an austroloheros?

One particularly seeming indicator of the fish being an austroloheros opposed to a true parrot are the markings on the face just above the eyes, whatever u call a fishes' forehead... Please forgive my ignorance :)

you fish dont have orange eyes
