i would say if he gets to about 6" then he may well start on the crabs lol, but they are mean buggers lol the one i have leaves all the other fish alone but my male convict he has a personal vendetta against him hehe, which is fine because the con is the most bossy in the tank.
as far as RDs go, he should be ok, keeping in mind that hes got hiding places such as boroken flower pots, bog wood etc, he should be ok
