I'm sorry to hear that, i don't know why that LFS is known as reputable. I wonder if they would be more accomodating if you showed them pics of both species? For me, i know both species very well and would have known they wern't what they were labeled as.

im fairly new to ca cichlids woking on setting up a 1500 gallon fish room was going to breed gts and discus.... the markings were very light as they were fairly young and had about 35 of them in a 20 gallon :(.... i knew something was off after about a week in a good setting and they started showing there colors..... lol i was even told they were f1s that were bred in an outdoor hatchery in peru..... so either there wholesaler is f-ing them or they are just full of it.

i called them and they said it " wasnt there fault i didnt know what i was buying".... ummmm so its my fault that you sold me sals that were in a tank labled "high quality gold saums" i was there last week and they even still had some of the siblings still labled gold saums.... i dont know who is worse... the lfs or the wholesaler that sold them the supposed high quality gts.... i guess they get the last laugh because im the idiot that bought $10 a piece sal juvies and babied them like they were a friggin endangered species....... and to think i was about to place a $300 hans/stendker discus order with them.....

I don't have any links for them, but I know Ohio has a few very active local fish clubs including one in Clevland... If you find one there is a very good chance they have a forum and a very good chance you can find a new home for these fish through it...possibly even someone willing to trade you Gold Saums for them... There is probably a "find a local fish club" link on this site somewhere, or use google...

Or if you want to push the LFS to make good on their mistake... I would put the fish in a bag/bucket and go up there on Saturday afternoon (or their busiest time), bring print outs of a picture of a Salvini and a picture of a Gold Saum... then start asking for them to fix their mistake. Be sure to be polite and professional (no one likes a bad guy) and avoid bein g"loud" but speak in tones that others can hear. Find that balance where you are not coming in being a jerk... but instead are allowing others to overhear that the LFS has made a mistake and let the other customers see how the LFS is going to handle it.

Simply put, you knew what you wanted, they mislabeled their stock... it is their mistake. If I order a chicken sandwhich... and they give me a turkey sandwhich... I might not notice it until I take a bite... but as soon as I do, guess who made the mistake... they did, for not giving me what I asked for...

Personally, I would attempt to tak ethem back during their busy time... if that failed I would find the local fish club, share my experience with that store and try to find them a new home through the group.

i went there this evening with pics of the fish and talked to the guy i usually buy fish from..... he at least took the label off that said gold suam/ green terror.... after about 1/2 hour of going back and forth with the manager they agreed to give me a credit for them so im taking the fish there tomorrow..... but im still kinda ****ty the cost of the fish is minimal... im more pissed about the 1/2 hour every other day doing water changes, the expense of seachem prime, the expense of new life spectrum, hikari gold, black worms and krill... im more pissed about the time, effort and cost of supplies..... The store by the way is petland in north olmsted... they arent the best fish store by ANY means but they are at least usually better quality than petsmart and the other crappy chain stores.... its really a shame that there are no good fish stores in the cleveland area any more with the exeption of something fishy who have The BEST quality fish i have ever seen, but they only have africans/ fancy plecos and those arent really my thing anymore. I should have insisted on a bottle of prime and a bag of hikari too but that would have probably been pushing my luck.... Now i have the impossible task of finding quality GTs..... unfiortunately the 2 fish im most interested in breeding (discus and gts) are IMPoSSIBLE to find in the cleveland area.... lol i need to move to florida so i can get baddass quality fish... ive heard that there are some places where gts and flowerhorns have been introduced into the wild and you can actually go fishing for them!!! how awesome would it be to hook a 12 inch gt instead of the crappie or bluegill we have in ohio....

i kept the breeding pair and returned the other 4 :) the coloration is really nice on the pair so even though im not really interested in them i hated to return the pair and have them split up... so im going to hang on to them to keep my tank cycling until i find some nice gts... and in the meantime ill just try to find someone that is interested in breeding them.... i have lloked through alot of pics of sals and there color seems to be about as good as they come. so if anyone in my area sees them and wants them just drop me a line :)
