Hi everyone,

New member here looking for some help. We recently purchased these Geos at our LFS, they were labeled "Jurupari" although they are clearly not. It's been suggested that they might be "Surinamensis" although from what I read true Surinamensis are rarely imported. Any ideas as to what we may have here? The largest of the 4 is about 2 - 2 1/4 inches at the moment.

Thank you for any help.

Thanks all... was hoping it would have been a Tapajos or something that wouldn't get quite so big but we were planning to upgrade to a bigger tank eventually so it's not so bad. They are still gorgeous fish.

Thanks again

As you have read surinamensis are quite rare, so while you may see many sold as "Geo. surinamensis" they rarely ever are.
Quite usually they are Geo. altifrons.
"sp. Tapajos" look quite different are are nice too but IMO there ain't much that beats an altifrons when it comes to looks. ;)
