Definately not a surinamensis. Either an altifrons or a sp. 'altifrons'.
whats the difference, and the lateral spot looks sur. most altifrons ive looked up have either very hard to see or no spot at all. but the first two pics look like sur. but i can see why you said altifron on the last one. ellaborate please cause i am trying to learn about geos! so this is just as helpful to me as it is the O.P.

Well, most the geos are imported under the common trade name surinamensis even though they are not. A ture surinamensis has horizontal strips on its tail while an altifrons has blotches on its tail. The true surinamensis has been rarely imported, therefore, it is very hard to locate one.

They are prolly Altifrons, but they could be Dikrozoster too. I got a bunch of the babies that you have pictured. One turned out to be an Altifrons, one turned out to be a Dikrososter, and i still have 4 babies around the size of yours if not a little bigger. I have 8 Tapajos red heads, and i can assure you that yours are not tapajos.(Tapajos red heads have HORIZONTAL tail stripes, not spots)

What are you feeding them, they look nice and healthy.

Here are some pics of the babies i have now, and pics of the fish i grew out from the "Surinamensis" babies i bought at my LFS too.

So good luck and hope you get some real nice GEOS!
