Almost definitely sure its a marine puffer, just not sure which one... Looks a little bit like a stars and stripes puffer?

Thanks Homer!

I believe it is an African river puffer of types (pretty sure it came in on a fahaka puffer shipment by accident).
It's being kept in freshwater, but has the looks of a typical brackish puffer imo.
I'm assuming it will stay in the 4-6" range (currently 1.5").
This is all that I've been able to speculate so far.
Please let me know on anymore info/ideas.

Can you get another shot where you can see the pattern more clearly?

Lattice blassop (Takifugu oblongus), the most common fugu species eaten. High-end BW to SW (marine conditions are best), grows to 16" (40cm), 90-100g tank. Difficult species to keep.

I agree...at the very least, for sure it is a takifugu. I searched for an hour to make sure...now I am behind on house work!

Mine aged around 2 yrs and about 12 inches..I didn't know at the time it was a marine fish and it was kept in fresh water. Sadly it died of an IP but it certainly wasn't hard to keep about the same level of competance as a mbu, fahaka or stars and stripes.
