Yeah a devil and a black shark are really the only signifgant ones.

Go with a Jag, Oscars (on average) aren't aggressive enough to hang with that crowd.

Would definitley go with the Jag or a RTM

I'd go with the Jag, and hope it ends up looking like this:

i dont get why some cichlids will let fish with no teeth and weak jaws beat on them, my a. sp"red isletas" is terrified of my much smaller msytus mystus yet he isnt afraid of me or my larger rtm male

i would go with a jag over an oscar any day

You've obviously never seen a BS attack another fish. They dont have teeth but they use their size and speed and can dish out the hurt as well as any cichlid.

Give the Jag a good sized piece of driftwood to take shelter from the B.S. and claim his own little space.

Yeah thats kinda what I tried last time and the shark had him cornered in his hiding spot nearly all the time.

In that case maybe the black shark needs his own tank.

A Jag shouldn't have to live his existence like that. :(

I agree which is why I sadly had to give him up so he could have a better life:( Its funny though, it makes you wonder why certain fish target other certain fish. With all the hostility that was aimed towards the Jag, the BS and the Devil are totally cool, at night they even sometimes hang right next to one another, so close sometimes they are even touching lol and wait for me to turn the lights on in the morning.

Oscars are cool too. I wouldn't say no brainer.

yea oscars are aight in general, but in this situation its a no brainer since it would get messed up to say the least

You should at least try, it might have been the individual Jag. You'd be surprised sometimes with cichlids 2 might not get along but switch one out for the same exact species and size and then they do. If not, you could try trading it out for another amphilophus species. Maybe that Black shark is an Amphilophus lover. :D
