It seems like one of the spots disappeared but three still remain. I doesn't look like it is spreading but it seems like the other the other area are at a stand still maybe a little more intense.

What do you guys think should I continue with a the salt & heat method or should I start quarantine and Medication?

i would personally do quarantine and medication to make sure that the infection would go away

^ Thanks M4ttSyke will do plan on using triple sulfa and putting him in a 10 gallon tank. He is about 18" will a ten gallon be to small for him for 4 days ( 24 hrs x 4 per box instructions).

I also found this post from Solomon, a well respected member of the ancient fish community:

you've already started the full-spectrum treatment, but before that i would have suggested, since the damage appears to be localized, or at least locally presented, to try something more focused, such as putting neosporin on the reddened area. it likely would not hurt the condition, but it may have helped it heal up without the need for broad spectrum antibios.
you could still try this treatment with the fish now, it would just be tougher to figure out which treatment is working. polys are definitely a peculiar bunch when it comes to ailments IMO. i have had success with neosporin on localized damage/infection in the past though. good luck, and i'm sure the bichir will pull through!--

From THIS thread

Thinking about trying it first what do you think?

Normally, for new WC bichirs, we quarantine and dose meds no matter how healthy they look. I used to use Parasite clear which would treat just about every thing, but it's no longer in the market. So now I dose 4 different meds together and it works well. (Learn it from my LFS guy). Eiho Pazi Gold, General aid, Metro cure and Baxter Acrifavine.

But back to topic, it doesn't look like internal parasite as the reddness is more likely to appear at the belly area(from my experience only) rather then near the back. looks like it bruised itself. Quite common when shipping bichirs, I have seen my fair share of unbaggings at my LFS, when many are packed in one bag it happens. But just treat to be on the safe side. We always do.

^ Thanks nid for the advice .
