Recently my main filter on my 90 croaked. I tried, to no avail, to fix it and the motor seems burnt out. If I were in the $150 range, could anyone recommend a solid filter? Dont care what kind/type, just need some help pointing me in a good direction. Thank you

i wud say for 150 the best you could do is
2 powerful HOBs about 40$ each
1 fluidized bed filter+powerhead $60
you can go to drsfostersmith.com and get them for cheap, i think this is a good combo, Hobs for mechanical and fluidized be for biological

im pretty sure you can still get a fx5 on ebay for 200 bucks and just use pot scrubbies for bio till you can get better.

or an FX5

:screwy:

please show me where i can buy a FX5 for $150. i will buy out their entire stock.

OP:
if youre handy, id suggest building a wet/dry. you can get everything you need to build it for under $150, and it will provide the most effective filtration for your tank.

if youre not into building stuff, or you just dont want the hassle, i would suggest an AC110 or Eheim 2217. you may be able to find a XP3 for around your price range online, but youd have to shop around.

I just ordered a Cascade 1500 at Pet Solutions online for $119.99 + free shipping. If you use coupon code THKY you get an additional $5 off. It is rated 350gph for up to 200 gallon. This is in your price range and a decent budget canister. Lots of filter for your money.

I have a Cascade 1000 that came with my tank when I got it used and can not complain. It is quiet and works great on my 65 gallon.

Thanks
Bitter..I would have no idea how to do that...I have considered just spending more and getting an eheim or xp3. Cheapest f5 is like 225 I could find. Considered that but I dont know.

DIY wetdry research it and u will see how easy it is to make. I recently bought one and said the same thing u are saying i have no idea what it is but if you look up DIY's you will see they are easy to make
