Yeha it does look like fin rot, id put it in a tank and treat with myxazin (or your alternative) and add some tonic salt.

Watch the salts with other fish in there.

And what is "fin rot" caused by?...

 I'll bet you just got one-upped by at least one teenager. Don't feel bad, just take comfort in knowing that anyone with a computer can be an expert on the internet.

That and you weren't quick enough to draw the difficult conclusion that rotting fins should be diagnosed as 'fin rot'. :grinno:

I will leave this here for a few days but you would get better answers in the disease/health section (but your choice).

Looks like a bacterial infection (if so treat with Tetracycline or similar).

Could be from stress, vitamin deficiency, pH problems etc.

Need to know all water parameters.

What other fish are in the pond / tank with it?

The more info we have in the beginning the faster we can help.

That my friend was sarcasm, apparently lost on here,. Point being I had already said it could be a bacterial infection (which is what 'fin rot' is) and offered a remedy (tho I would have liked more info first).

Now if Passionate 4 pikes would come back and tell us how it's going...

I was trying to be sarcastic too. :D

You went straight to the source and gave the best advice out there...only to be followed by some no brainers. :( I feel your pain.

Thanks you all.i did a 75 percent water change but it seems to have spread will the fish die if not treated. unfortunately i have some other sick fish right know.does normal salt work???what exact info do you need?i would test for ammonia etc but i have no tests they will be here in about a month hopefully. (from the us)thanks guys for the responses.

Yes they will perish.

What medications do you have?

Do you have a UV and a quarantine tank (or can you turn the tank into one since the other fish are getting sick too)?
