My red dragon flowerhorn is covered in white cottony stuff. Today we put salt in his tank, put two moss balls to help the high nitrate level, and bought him a new heater. We also put stress zyme in his tank. He's floating upside down. It's 9 pm and all pet stored are closed. Please help soon. I want to save him.

Sounds like his slime coat is falling off. Test water for ammonia nitrite and nitrate. Post results

We tested his nitrate levels earlier today. They were pretty high. (40-80 before we tried fixing it)

What did u do to try and fix it. What about ammonia and nitrite. They are more important

The woman at our local pet store told us the marimo balls would help with the nitrate levels. No ammonia.

They won't do anything for nitrates.

They are one of the slowest growing plants I've ever encountered. I've got some that are a few years old and don't show any signs of significant growth. If I recall the moss balls are actually an algae.

You need a serious amount of fast growing plants, aquatic or terrestrial to make a significant impact on nitrates.

Water changes are your best bet at this point in time

Please tell me more about this! How much water and what exactly should I do? I'm really desperate right now.

He looks like this. The cottony stuff is slowly coming off.

Honestly no one can tell you exactly what's wrong based on the info provided. Make sure temperature is good and the water is getting plenty of oxygen. Turn the lights off too
