Please help my Jardini arowana, white growths on it's body

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That is not ich. Neither is it Costia, I believe ( has no velvety, cottonish look )

WC is done. Add salt and up the temps.

If this does not work, since you already destroyed the filter media, get some potassium permanganate and put it in the tank.

I will try to find the dosage.....( its been years )

Haha, I just went to my LFS today, and brought a water sample. Apparently my test kit at home is no longer working. When the store owner tested my water, it was crazy acidic. I also showed him pictures and video of my jardini. Apparently that white stuff is the jardini's slime coat. The ammoniums are still high, but the nitrites are down to 0. So I bought some buffer to bring the pH back to 7, and some live bac culture to get rid of the ammonium.

Here's to hoping things go well,
Josh

hope it is solved, then.

Try to add some salt and increase temperature if not done so far.

Works like a charm most of the time.

All the Best for you and your jar.

Update:

The Jardini still hasn't eaten, and now he's been hanging around the bottom of the tank. My mom said that earlier in the morning, he was jumping around and not swimming upright. Little concerned, since for the past couple of days he was swimming at the top and being 'normal.' Now it seems like he's sulking at the bottom of the tank. Still not eating though.

I have no idea what this is, but I found it at the bottom of the tank. Looks kinda like a vegetable?

I've increased the temperature, and will try salt soon.

Update

Just went to my LFS, the owner checked my water, and the pH is now ~7.6, which is a big jump from 5.5. So perhaps my Jardini is still adjusting to the big change in pH. The owner gave me some pH balancer to bring it back to 7.0 so we'll see how that turns out. He also gave me some amquel (the water conditioner, I'm pretty sure I'm spelling it wrong) to help get rid of the ammonias, chlorines, and chloramines.
