Why not shoot the fish in the head?

Just use a butcher knife and chop the head off. Works every time.

Snakeheads are pretty tough....I'm not sure that would kill it....there would still be brain activity...

I've fileted fish I caught alive before, so have my parents and a lot of other people I know, the head will still be breathing, in the case of catfish for a LONG time maybe hours afterward. I dunno if this means they're still aware, but physiologically they're not completely dead.
Please don't flame me, I'm not the only person that does/has done this when catching fish to eat, it's actually pretty common, and if you don't agree that's not the point of the thread, I'm just trying to make a point about whether chopping the head off kills them or not.

If I was going to euthanize one of my fish I definately wouldn't chop their head off, that just doesn't guarantee to end their suffering quickly IMO.

fair enough. However i think boiling a fish is jst as bad. Anyways this thread is done. i don't want to start a huge debate. There are way too many threads discussing this. If a mod is reading this can you close it please. SPANKS!
