Hi,
I hope someone can help my little ray. About 5 days ago my male motoro (6") started to develop unequal hump at the base of his tail. I know his stomach is there and will swell up when he feeds, but the problem is it doesn't swell up equally. Left side of his stomach swells up noticably more, and more. He ate a lot of live ghost shrimp like nothing happened. One morning I saw his butt floated a little bit, so I put him in hospital tank and put in some epsom salt and much less food. That hump came down but not 100%. Now my female motoro develop the same symptom with long stringy poop. I guess there may be an intestinal blockage. Stange thing is both of them swell their left side. Has anybody come across this with your ray? Please help.. thanks.

What are you feeding them? Never seen anything like this....but still new with rays.....DW or Miles might know something

Those are not the lovely lady humps I like to see!

was it just me that noticed, or is that a huge string like matter trailing from that stingrays anus!

It's her poop. I think it indicates something, maybe internal infection or parasite.

Thanks for every replies, I really need them fast.

i havent seen that before to be honest.. but i hope you find out soon buddy

Yeah that Poo dosn't look right.. Looks like an internal infection of some sorts obviously.

Treat with Prazi or Metro, isolate if you can..

Wonder if the Ghost Shrimp could of passed on the infection? Maybe blackworms? Tough to say.. would feed it something easily digestible for a while, like earthworms.

DW will probably know better than I..

Thanks a lot for your reply. I fed her ghost shrimp soaked in metro 3 days ago. I'm sure she had enough metro to take care of whatever inside. Now she refuses food. :(
If the problem is from internal bacteria infection, I have Amoxy on hand and will try 20mg/L. Now I try not to use any med if not necessary. She's in hospital tank, I added salt (1 tbsp/5 gallon) and wait.

BTW, there was fine sand in this tank. I removed it after the first ray showed this weird swell.
