Please help! saddled bichir with white spot on his head

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
If I can get my hands on aquarium salt I will add some to my tank, the only problem I see is that scaleless fish are very sensative to salt and I have a large synodontis, any idea if he would be okay? Or would I have to remove him from the tank.

Salt should be fine. Monitor the catfish...if it acts a bit funny or scratching then do a 50%wc asap.

Can use idoine free salt from the supermarket or aquarium salt.

It looks a little deeper than just the slime coat. What kind of pleco is it? If it's the carnivorous kind then I guess I'd expect this. The herbivores leave pale circular patches usually. Not a pleco expert though.

I have two plecos, a large l24 pleco which is a carnivore but it is very shy and scared of the other fish and I have a common pleco which is an omnivore but its mouth would not be big enough to inflict a wound of that size.
