Hi all just changed from gravel to sand however I put the sand in with my fish now my tank is totally murky, is this bad? Will it harm my fish whilst it settles?

Just give it a little time to settle down. It always kinda does that when you add sand unless you get it super clean. Nothing to fear.

It will be fine and no it won't harm the fish. It will settle down and become clear again. Usually takes a few hours to a day to clear up depends oon how cloudy it is. I've had ine so cloudy before you couldn't even see the fish but by morning it was clear.

Thats great thanks guys was very concerned; I've only put 2/3 of the sand in would I be better off just putting it all in at once or waiting for the first batch to settle? I can't see my fish ha!

Go big or go home. Don't want to have to wait it out twice.

Yah, go ahead and finish adding it. If you want, you can wait until most of the large grains settle, and then do several small waterchanges to help clear out some of the murkiness. Just don't make them very large.

are you cleaning the sand before you put it in?

This was my sw before I added the sand recently

and immediately after adding 100-120 lbs of fine carib sand

one week later still kind of hazy but getting clearer so don't worry to much about it

Jeez that exactly the same as mine! Tis weird not seeing my fish, was hoping to have it clear in a day or two; would I be alright adding a ray to that or not?
