The tank is 48'x24"x31" and it was a custom job i picked up on E-bay. The tank is good.....The top rim is covered with brush aluminum framing with no inside lip. I hop the pics show what I mean! What should I do for a lid since the All-Glass and other pre made lides seem to need the inside lip to hang on???? I looked for threads addressing this issue but came up empty. Thank you in advance!!!!

What are your goals?
Where does the tank go?
Are you just looking to cover or do you need something a little more aesthetically pleasing?
Are you just looking for glass tops or a full canopy?
If you just want glass tops, why not just silicone tabs to the bottom side (to fit just inside the frame of the tank) of the glass and let it rest on top?

Thanks for the reply.....I am looking for a glass top to support lights and easy access for scaping, feeding and maintenance....I was thinking of having a slightly oversized top made in two pcs and let it overlap a bit and get support from the whole tank. i like the idea of using supports though. The center brace would probably still require a custom made job...

I have the same size tank but from perfecto and yes it ha the plastic lip all the way around and i purchased marineland lids for it for about 50.00 , so not sure what you can do without the lip edge

Check out post #5 on this site for an alternative support clip to use on a frameless tank. Or you can make a similar style if you are handy.

The idea of a wood frame intrigues me.....Could I aquarium cement a simple teak fram inside the tank at the water line. I cannot see building a canopy at this time. I am also considering cementing small stainless shelf supports around the top of the tank to hold the lid but cannot visualize how the large custom center support will play into the fit. I do not want to special order a glass top and get stuck with it if it does not work. Thanks!!!!!!!!!!
