is the poop like cotton balls if yes
then it is hexamita which is affecting the intestines and the white cotton like poop is the corrosion of its intestines
bump the temp and treat with metronidazole and loads of water changes
if you don't act fast there will be an infection it will ooze puss and then die
this happened to one of my 13" FH which i had sold
and the fellow did not care for it properly

This is absolutely correct and that is what happens when you break the #1 rule especially when you are working with nice fish. DO NOT FEED LIVE FISH!
The risk of disease is to great unless you raise your own and keep up on the maintenance. Metrondazole works , but there are other meds that do as well. This can be a bit*h to get rid of and you can not slack on it. Let me add one more thing to the instructions that was left out to help you. While treating do not feed. After treating for about a month. Say off the dry good especially (pellets) and only feed soft foods such as market shrimp. Pellets are to hard on the digestive system that is attempting to heal from the infection! Good luck hope all goes well

the treatment is basically for 2-3 weeks at least if you read about hexamita you can find out that this comes due to the fish not getting enuff nutrients and is not getting enuff variety in food, also water quality and a few other factors

this site was one of the few i found on google
you can even check in one of the oscars forum about treatment and prevention
GL with your fish

thanks for the help bro but when i came home from work tonight he was floating but head down stiff :(:nutkick::swear: that was a very nice fish i lost it may be hard to find another like him

too bad dude
its just bad luck and a little mistake on our part
the next time make sure you feed a varied diet to your fish and not just live fish
as they require a balanced diet and all their required nutrients
sorry for your loss keep your head up and hope you have better luck next time :)
