I just got back from the store with some feeders and ghost shrimp because my new ornate bichir wasn't eating the silver sides or tilapia i was feeding him. I get home and he is on his back in the tank. I grabed the net to bring him to the top thinking he needed air for a second and he was moving again. I haven't seen him come to the top for air on his own yet so i am very worried. I don't want this fish to die and He is moving around now But still is off balance and not swimming right. He still wont eat or go to the top for air....

Also i tested my water yesterday and my lfs and they said everything was perfect. My sens in with him don't bother him and there doing fine.

Ugh hes not eating pellets, blood worms, tilapia, silver sides, ghost shrimp, or rosy red feeder, I think its good to say my favorite fish is dead.

Just read the sticky on bichirs not eating...made me feel a little better but the air thing and upside down swimming still worries me.

ok, i'm no expert when it comes to sickness, but i'd qt the ornate to make sure whatever it is your senegal doesn't get it. if you have any medication like melafix, or primafix i'd put the recommended does in the qt tank.

Whats your filtration, i'd check you water parameters.

I got a emperor 400 on my 75 that there in. My parameters are perfect i just took a sample to my lfs to get them checked last night. I did take out the 3 air stones cause i thought maybe they made too much of a current for him to swim to the top for air. He seems a little better...hopefully he makes it thru the night.:(
