As oddball said you cant cycle a filter in a day thats the problem! Another product is

Algone

It takes a natural approach in reducing ammonia levels in fresh and saltwater tanks. Microorganisms contained within the pouch will feed off nitrogen compounds as soon as activated by submerging the pouch in the water. The absorbed nitrogen compounds are transformed into micro bacterial protein, without leaching them back into the tank. Frequent (daily/ weekly/ or high volume) water changes can be avoided in order to bring the tank back in balance. A regular maintenance of changing the water (10-15% every other week) should be maintained, as other nutrients need to be replenished or removed.

I don’t like putting packets of things in my tanks and you should not have to.when my fish room was up and running fully on the 2 180 I had in there I ran 2 filters on each and would only service one at a time always leaving one dirty I never had a problem on theses tanks they were massively over filtered and you have the comfort if one knocks its self out the other is there.

well the thing is he does not know the EXACT problem...its not for sure if ammonia is causing this

It could be something unrelated. If anyone used a warm-oven cleaner last night, that will kill a tank of fish off pretty quick once the vapors reach the room the tank is in. Or, someone dusting the top of the tank with a rag saturated with furniture polish. Just dipping a corner of the rag into the tank water will release enough chemicals to kill the fish. Air fresheners, insect sprays, etc. can cause the same reactions if sprayed in the direction of the tank or carried to the tank via a room fan, A/C unit, etc.

if your worried about ammonia then use a product called denitrol by JBL it is a very effecient preparation of active bacteria that remove amonia, nitirite and nitrate.. it matured my fry tanks in a day with no spikes on the test kits after the fry were added.

ammmolock is very good also but expensive if you use it in large ammounts.

what water conditioner do you use>?

have you tested the pH of the tank and your tap water?

did you forget to add water conditioner?

did you use a water conatiner used for another purpose such as car wshing etc for your tank clean?

have you been decorating?

well...

i bought the bag of CHEMi - PURE and have put it in with my media in the filter.

Can I just ask if you cycled the filter for a day 3 weeks ago where was the filter for the other 2 weeks and 6 days before you put it on your tank?
