This is how your turtle will eventualy look like when it grows up. Now I really must coment you buying a 10.0 power sun. That to use whit a baby turtle is defenitly overkill. This isnt uromastix or desert iguanas we are dealing whit. For a baby turtle a 5.0 will be more than enough. I know many guys use it, but you are riscking your turt eye sigth.Insted of it get a weaker lamp to be on the safe side. Other more important sutf on your shoping list would be a 30 galon aquar, a nice piece of cork for bascking, some Elodea, a filter , a aquarium heater , Tetra reptomin and some frozen fish foods like bloodworms,daphnia,black worms,etc

Thank you for the imput. I already ordered the 10.0 from the local reptile shop, but he does have 5.0's in stock. I guess I will buy the 5.0 and have the 10.0 for when he grows. He will be moved to my 300 gallon indoor pond when he reaches appropriate size. What is Elodea? I already have a basking site set up for the pond, a 3000 gph filter, Reptomin and bloodworms. I need to get black worms anyway.

Is there anything else you would recommend?

At what distance should the 5.0 uvb bulb be set up from the basking site?

This aquarium is just until he reaches 3-4 inches. I have already custom built a basking site that is completely outside the pond using 2x4's, acrylic, and outdoor carpet.

ANy UVb lamp must be at a maximum distance of 40-50 cm. The UVb rays are very weak and lose their capability of penetrations at higher distances.

Well my friend if you think that is a cross between a Res and Ybs that I say that you are absolutley correct. But yes the belly is kind of bit yellow. That may even be a (Res x Ybs) x Ybs

I'm glad someone else sees what I'm seeing. The plastron spotting reminds me of a YBS as does the some of the yellow markings on the carapace. Of course that red "ear" behind the eye gives you the look of a RES.

Elodea is an aquatic plant very rich in calcium, also known as Anacharis dont expect that your turt at this age is going to eat much plant material, but this is a great plant for teaching your turt to like eating plants. Later plants will be increasingly relevant in his diet. For now stik to the foods you already have and also some small pieces of chicken and fish filet for variety. feed 3 times a day every day in small porcions untill he´s 7 monts old. leave Elodea floating as a snak. as for the UV ligth aim for 15cm distance. Dont forget to make shure that there is nothing between your turt and the ligth(remove any glass ,plastic ,etc)

Thanks, I know what anacharis is, I have just never heard it called elodea.

I'm tempted to say it's just a YBS. It's quite a common occurence for YBS to have the red colouring too naturally. Here's a photo of two sliders from a river in Carolina where there are no feral populations of RES, the colouring of the YBS on the right is entirely natural, and the left looks like a mutation.

beatifull turts. that one looks to be a pastel or "clown" morph of the ybsthose cost a very pretty penny. And yes its comon to see some orange or even red coloring on ybs from both the formacion of integrates and natural variacion. but from this turt I think that there is really some subsep crossing. It is very similar to that turt pic I posted wich I know for shure it is resxybs cross
