Been wanting a DAT for my tank but had a lot of trouble finding one. walked into the LFS today (was going to buy a flagtail for my tank, even had it bagged up) walking to the register i saw a single 2-3 inch dat fresh arrival. I am not sure what kind he is, hoping its at least an indo or better yet siamese lol. anyway, maybe you experts can let me know. paid $26.00 for this little guy, please give me some suggestions to fatten him up as he is skinny.

i dont have much experience with dats i only just got a 4 inch indo but i think its a good fish for the price nice find

If you can grow it to more than 12" then you probably have one of the rarer danoids and the best looking one of the datnoid subspecies if you ask me.

If the markings remain like that all the time, then it's a decent pickup. I would have bought it straight away.....
Try pellets, and frozen prawns for food.

Thanks, His markings are what really grabbed me. I am a little worried he might not eat. he has been hiding behind a few different pieces of driftwood since i got him. I think my motoro stingry scares the bejesus outta him. I hope he gets a little braver.
