he is soooo beautiful .. thanks for adding to info.. i want him to stay healthy.. i have him in a tank with one baby pleco and one small african.. i have soft gravel and plants and a hide out cave but i will get another cave tommorrow especially since i may get the other goby they had.. your tank set up is beautiful.. is your dragon the same as mine... yours has beautiful beastly face..sweet i like that face and big mouth.. i hope he eats tommorrow when i feed him for the first time.. i will be nervous until then.. thanks so much.

Mine went from that skinny cute little thing to the beast you see. I will try to find a link for a really big one that I've seen.

They are really neat,... when i walked into the LFS he was still in the bag from wholesalers.. i thought of you too.. and your goby because you just told me the other night in my knifefish thread about how he was delicate also..do you remenber.. any way i hope i can do as well as you did with yours.. LiZ

The hardest part is getting them eating. They are usually very skinny when they first come in and can be hard to get started. Putting the food down in front of them and not having aggressive competition will help. Once they start eating regularly, they will learn that the tank lid opening means food and will swim out. I tried mine with cichlids and he just hid and got thin. When I put him in the community tank he thrived. With the care you give your other pets I'm sure he will be fine.

Not to be an arse or anything liz... but keep an eye on the pleco... you know what they are like with rays and bichirs... so I'd keep a sharp eye to make sure the pleco isn't bothering it.

Theres a fare bit of info and discussion on the site about these fish, search for dragon goby or violet goby, or even the scientific name, and there will be lots of info. Hope you have success with this one, they are really cool fish. Do you have it feeding?

Thank you I hope so... always nervous until their eating.. i only have one cichld in with him..cichlids are too fast and busy.. and the phamton pleco.. the pleco was in with guppis but i do not think he liked all the guppies jumping on his food with him.. here it is peaceful and even the phantom is a phantom no more.. he is always out..so i think the tank is good just have to get him eating.. thanks alot again.. everyone has been great!!!

The pleco is just a bit of a thing but if you think he could be a problem i will move the goby again.. the pleco is soooo happy in this set up i would hate to set him back.. he was with plenty of algae and guppies in the other tank.. but i never saw him out and about and eating like he is now.. thanks for the warning though i may have to change things again to be absolutely sure.. as far as eating i did not try.. he was in the blue water from shipping so slightly sedated so i will try the frozen brine and miacin shrimp and frozen krill tommorrow .. he needs to rest for now.. i will search for more info on the sites..thanks again and believe me i will keep a sharp eye on him in the meantime .. and i can always divide tank with screen too..

Great looking fish Liz!! Just seeing another violet goby upsets me a little bit, I just lost mine of 2 years a few days ago. It's a mystery as to why he died, but the tank sure isn't the same without him.
Great Pickup!!

heres another so so pic of him, he is really purple and pretty big .. but he is going through stress etc so i do not want to bother him anymore.
