bought it on Monday from a lfs, ~2.5" for $4. was going to buy two but the way lfs employees (yes, it took two of them for like 10 minutes!) netting the fish made me unhappy so i got only one. anyway, i acclimated it in a 20g long tank with a pair of convicts that were same size, but it got harassed and ended up with a split tail after about 5-10 minutes. i have the convicts in a separate tank now and plan on re-introducing them later.

already started eating pellets and coming to front of the tank...

what you think about this baby?

That looks like a red dragon flower horn. Very nice for $4.

Can be a Red ZZ as of now. But it can be something totally different later on. Just want to point something out from what I've been seeing a lot around here. People tend to judge all FH to be any sort of ZZ once they see that it has that tear drop marking. This is false, I happened to find a very high amount of GM and Kamfa that has it also(not talking about modern GM and Kamfa here as I can believe that they are mixed with ZZ, but I'm talking about the original of the original). Anyways...just want to educate some that haven't knew this. So don't judge any FH to be ZZ because of tear drop. Even though a majority of them does happen to be ZZ because it flows stronger in their gene pool.

it's a male zz probably one of the best from the batch. GL with thiss one he is going to be pretty nice.

it was absolutely the best from the new batch from this lfs. it was dominating the tank of about 10 slightly smaller size, constantly harassing the others.

i'm hoping for the kok to turn out good since it has a nice shape already at this size. btw, the tail is completely healed up now.

should i try to re-introduce the convicts back to the tank? if so, when?

thanks all.

Don't mix him with convicts a 20gallon is too small to keep this flowerhorn in especially with tank mates. If the 20 is all you have you'll need to get a bigger tank for your flowerhorn they need a 60gallon minimum but a 75-90 is more ideal.
