i didnt say theres none in Australia i just havnt seen any or heard of any in Perth these look almost identical to the ones i have and i no the parents of mine are monoc and they had red eyes if that why your calling them ocell

there are differences, the vertical line from the last bar to the tail which monos have and ocells dont, black marking behind pectoral fin which monos have and ocells only have a spot..

dude i do no the difference between cichla and i also have a good idea on availability of fish in Australia and in my opinion i think they are monocs if thats ok that i have an opinion
when get a chance i will get some other pics of bass that i and mates have owned over the years and you wouldnt believe the difference between different batches that all originated from the same group of breeders

lol relax dude your getting fired up over fish.. ofcourse you can have an opinion :) each to their own, i know what you mean with differences within the same batch, a couple of mine no one has been able to identify yet cause it has some characteristics from different kinds of pbass all in the one fish i.e facial spots, spangling etc.., and they all came from the same breeder, but when you look at the 2 you would think their from different parts of the world, i was simply stating that theres more to identifying ocells and monos then just by ocells having red eyes, cause some wild monos can have these traits aswell..

:WTF:im not geting fired up just get my point accross
dont want to derail the subject as it wont help CubanB on the I.D of his cichla

hehehehe aussies!!

personally, doing a bit of research and looking at s##tloads of photos on the net, i'm leaning towards ocellaris. i always thought they were monos and IMO the 2 types look fairly similar anyways. either way i still love em!!

cheers for all ya help guys.

It's all good guys, :) nomis you have a very valid point and I respect that and your right Cuban no matter what they turn out to be their gonna be monsters :D
