I was told from the lfs this is a catfish from lake tanganyika. When I got him, he/she was almost half this size. It seems to be growing really fast and I had to create it a new shelter due to its size.

I tried to get a better pic but he rarely comes out in the light.

What is it?

Thanks,

Gotta admit that I have never seen that catfish before,it could be a hybrid of some sort. The angle makes it a little hard to really tell but it could be some species of Synodontis but I'm not sure if any of them are found in Lake Tanganyica.

Almost looks like a synodontis ocellifer but the color is throwing me off or a synodontis ocellatus

It's one of synodontis hybrids that assuredly has never seen Lake Tanganyika. It's a "plastic" fish whose habitat is a fish tank.

You can look through the syno hybrid sheets and photos on Planet Catfish.

I've had what I believe a while ago the same hybrid. Their appearance can vary.
