that would be a paddle tail newt.
That would be correct:D but the others arent completly mistaken because fire bellys are very close relatives of paddle tails. here´s a very good care pagehttp://www.caudata.org/cc/index.shtml ;)

thats good info Coura..

without seeing the whole body in the pic it is hard to say. what it really looks like is a paddle tail salamander though. they sell them occasionally in the pet stores around here for around $10

That is the thing with common names they have a great deal of variation;) But its a padle tail newt, you can tell rigth away without even seing its tail because the head of this species has this caracteisistic flat and pointed form wille fire bellys for example have a more high head, a more rounded snout and the eyes are more on top of the head. But this of corse is just for ID porpouses because this guys require a very similar care and if cared properly they trive and can live for well more than 12 years;)

I also just figured another thing, you posted pics of 2 diferent species. Most are from padle tails but that in wich you only see the tail and back side of a male newt its from a true fire belly newt:D

hey guys i ordered 2 :) not only one and i ll put pics soon they look great

thanks for all of u >>
