The fish pictured above looks more like a silverside, Menidia menidia. Where did you get it? I see you are in Ireland.

Thanks for all the info lads. LFS was selling lance fish that I was feeding them and I think that's ok, but they've changed to selling this type so I'll give it a miss just to be safe.

Well there are documented cases of thiaminase poisoning in wild fish

But what are the % like? If 1 in a million fish are poisoned that's pretty negligible

True, its rare but does happen in populations of fish with very limited diets. I some salmon populations in the Baltic Sea are some of which.

I agree, looks EXACTLY like the frozen Silversides I feed my fish

TBH, our fishes died for other reasons like: fish trying to "walk on carpet", big fish eat small fishes, territorial fight to dead, poor water condition, equipment failed...you can keep counting BUT fish actually died because of "thiaminase" pretty much none exist in our hobby LOL they pretty much die before food poisoning with above reasons.
