I bought this guy last summer for $24.00 and he was listed as a torpedo cat. Anyone know what his real name is and any other info would be appreciated. A LFS has something that looks very, very similar listed as an "unknown" for $125.00 :WHOA: Just curious.

He's actually pretty cool and doesnt bother anyone. He was about 6" when I got him and is about 10" now.

Thanks......

oooooohhhhhh thats calophysus macropterus !!!!NICE!!!!
dude those are so hard to find wow nice cat
awsome cat i've heard machete cat and vulture cat as common names the first name is the best for this cat i think they have a pretty good set of chompers hope yours likes all its tank mates in the wild they will feed on dead and dying fish that are much larger then them selfs they can grab and rip chunks out of fish also they like crabs and shrimp which are smashed and swallowed hole there stubern to i went to a pets store a while back and the guy who worked there said he put an oscar with the cat they had and it tried to eat it i wasn't to supprised but he tried to save it and it swam from him and he finally grabed the oscar and tried to pull it out and the cat still tried to eat it he said it just riped off its half and wen't back to its cave

the vulture catfish. A voracious fish that is known to attack anything by all accounts, and will devour prey larger than itself by bitting chunks off. Very nasty by all accounts. Fishermen hate them because they attack fish being caught by line or nets all the way to the boat. They get somewhere between 19-23".

YES ....Thats him :WHOA: This little guy reminds me of a great white shark. He grabs a piece of smelt and shakes his head back and forth and just tears that **** up. Mouthfuls just like a shark :D Its very interesting to watch him feed. He gets along fine with my Hybrid and RTC and even lets a dozen tinfoil barbs and a black shark live with no worries.

Do they come from the Amazon ???

thanks....

Had a few of these years ago, never had any problem with aggression wot so ever, a real mellow chilled out cat. Had one at 18" a really beautiful pearlescent sheen to him, why oh why a gave it away, just used to bug me the way it would just swim vertical in one corner, man i wish i still had him now.:(
