There are threads around MFK on the subject, they only banned export from Brazil to conserve species. Even though they are building a damn which will ruin everything.

They are still legal to breed and own in the US so you may see them around.Perhaps even shipped from Europe i don't know. I rarely ever see them around anymore and they are usually pretty pricey. How much was the one you seen?

Yup got back to the IBAMA export ban list of L numbers, this L137 is actually listed on the 2008 ban list. Anyone have any idea any latest revision version of the list?

I am pretty sure it's still on the banned list. I do sometimes see them like once or twice a year around the local LFS ( i have had mine a few years). You also have to realize your are from Singapore and i am from the states. I'm sure you get alot of different species of fish than we do here. Either way i have a handful of fancy plecs and i wouldn't trade this one for the world hes my fav!

definatly a violet bruno. i have 2 of them. they will get begger than 5 inches though i believe over 11 inches. my big one has to be 6 already, an i have only had him for a few months.

how big was the plec when you got him? i have had mine a looong time and he has only grown like maybe 2-3 inches
